UNIJOS Management/ASUU Resolves Disputes, Commences Activities

The University of Jos, UNIJOS, Plateau State, Nigeria has finally commenced full academic activities, after the session has been marred by disputes between the University‘s management and its chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The dispute as reported, was as a result of the Non-payment of earned allowances to all members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, after the requested amount has been released by the Federal Government.

The union, therefore, encouraged its members to stay away from classes despite the suspension of the nationwide strike by the national leadership of ASUU.

But, in a statement to VNTI UNIJOS, by the University’s Deputy Registrar, Information & Publications, Mr. Steve Otowo revealed that the disagreement had been resolved and that full academic activities have commenced.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of the University’s chapter of ASUU, Dr David Jangkam, who urged his colleagues to resume work.

We thank the management of the University of Jos, UNIJOS, and its chapter of the Academic Staff Union, ASUU, and hope other Universities in the same situation follow suit.
