ASUU Meeting With Goodluck is a Rumour- UNIZIK Chapter

ATTENTION ALL: We have observed a rumour been spread over the social media that ASUU strike shall be called off on Monday November 4 2013. Some of these rumours disclosed that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has directed the Lecturers to resume work next week.

Please all these are false. According to ASUU President Prof. Isa Fagge the union will never suspend the strike until the government fulfills it’s agreement with them.

Moreover, the Union has never disclosed to newsmen that they had a meeting with President Jonathan on Friday.

Another thing Nigerians should understand is that President Goodluck Jonathan did not has the right to order ASUU members back to classroom because as a registered trade union, ASUU has the Constitutional and moral right to embark on strike.

ASUU leadership has urged Nigerians to beg the Federal Government and not the union because the union WILL NEVER suspend the strike till the government fulfills the agreement it willingly entered into.

Finally, there is another rumour that Nnamdi Azikiwe University will resume next week. Please that is false. The Authorities of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK Awka has not announced any resumption date.

Thank you.
