Lectures are currently ongoing at various faculties and departments of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka(UNN), despite the Federals government announcement of a public holiday on May 1st.
This actually happens not to be the first time which such issues are witnessed in UNN as the University always like to maintain Autonomy over governing federal bodies, especially decisions of this sort.
May 1st has always been celebrated as a public holiday, but the University of Nigeria, Nsukka(UNN), which ought to uphold all Federal governments laws, had proved that it is a community of its own, without any external interference.
At the time of receiving this report, Lectures are currently ongoing at various halls of study at the University.
This once again brings up the question, Who holds the Power of Autonomy in Nigeria???
The government or the governed??
