The Vice Chancellor Of The Nnamdi Azikiwe University(UNIZIK) Awka, Professor Boniface Egboka, has solicited approval from the National Universities Commission(NUC) in order to increase their admission quota to 9,000 admitted students from the current 3,700 students, which they currently follow.

According to Professor Egboka, it is unfortunate that most students, having performed so well at their screening test, would be denied admission, not because they are not intelligent, but because the Universities lacks the carrying capacity to take all these students.

Using the faculties of Medicine and Law as an example, professor Egboka disclosed that out of the 2,000 candidates who scored up to 291 in the Unizik post-utme screening test and were qualified to medicine and surgery, only 100 would be admitted.
He continued, that only 180 candidates would be admitted for law out of the 3000 candidates who scored up to 280.

With these examples, professor Egboka pleaded with the commission that there was need to give the youths who desire tertiary education, more chances.
