UNIBEN/Lancaster University PHD Admission 2015/2016

The University Of Benin, UNIBEN, wishes to call on all candidates who are interested in applying for a doctoral degree (Ph.D) programme at the Lancaster University, UK for the 2015/2016 academic session.

NOTICE THAT THIS IS A FULL LANCASTER UNIVERSITY PHD PROGRAMME.

CANDIDATES MUST BE:
*.Current lecturers of Higher Institutions, current researchers or staff in research agencies.
*.Broad research areas are preferably in Science and Technology but other areas would be considered in Education Management, Health, Social Sciences etc. Preference will be given to interests in researching about Nigerian challenges. For this year, research projects should focus on environmental areas including environmental pollution, food or water security, waste management, which may contain societal elements. Preference will be given to interests in researching about Nigerian challenges.
Please look at the on-going research on the Lancaster Environment Research Centre ( http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/lec/research/) to aid you. PhDs are also available in Education Management in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
*.Applicants should have a comprehensive CV, a research proposal linked to one of the above areas, two academic references, a personal statement of why you want to do a PhD at this point.
*.A research proposal should be no more than 2 pages with the following section: Research title; a summarized review; research question(s); research aims and objectives; proposed research methodology and framework for the programme.
*.Up to two years will be spent at the University of Benin and one year in Lancaster University for LEC-based PhD Programme; three years to be spent at the University of Benin for Educational Management PhD Programmes.
*.Applicants must have at least 2nd Class Higher Division or 2nd Class Lower Division with a Masters degree.

1.) Candidates’ CVs and research proposal will be assessed and candidates will receive an invitation (by SMS or Email) to attend a special PhD Seminar on this programme to take place at the National Centre for Energy and Environment (NCEE), University of Benin ,on a date to be communicated.
2.) Candidates invited to attend this special PhD Seminar must come with all other documentations as listed above and be ready for an assessment during the seminar by senior Management of Lancaster University and the University of Benin
3.) Deadline for receiving their email and expression of interest is 23rd October, 2015 at 5pm.
