UI DLC: 8 Students Collapse During Last Exam Paper

According to report, more than 8 students of Distance Learning Centre of the University Of Ibadan collapsed within 6 hours of the last paper for the first semester examination in the Ibadan Centre and Students from different department are lodging complains and crying out to the School Authority to make standard provision so that such incidents won’t occur again.

About few weeks ago, during the first paper for this session semester, 1 student slump and die in Lagos center while 3 other students collapsed in both University of Ibadan Examination Centers of Lagos and Ibadan.
Due to the collapsed of 10 students today at the exam center, the management of the school has postponed the GES 101 exam till tomorrow October 11, 2015.

Some Students were interviewed by our source and these were the reports we gathered.

“Actually it’s painful and we are disappointed about the way they organised it. They knew the population would be much because it’s a compulsory course and they couldn’t make provision for tents so that students could stand underneath.

They didn’t consider the welfare of the students during the examination. We are hoping the director would do something concerning this situation so that such occurrence won’t happen during second semester examinations.” Emmanuel said

Ifeoluwa who is also a Student of the University said ” There’s lack of coordination and some things that were supposed to be put in consideration weren’t put into consideration. Every department offers GES 101 and they should have created spaces for people to stay instead of letting everyone stay under the sun.

Another student confirmed that they have an UI branded ambulance but it’s not fully equipped, they were searching for sachet water to pour on the victim’s head before the ambulance drove off with full speed to the Jaja Clinic and It doesn’t speak well of the University considering the amount of money paid by each student of the UI DLC.
