The Council of Faculty Presidents, University of Lagos have unanimously said that Nigerian students are disappointed and frustrated with the Education Minister, Professor Rukahyat Rufai by the prolonged strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the failure of her ministry to end the crisis in the sector.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of Faculty Presidents, Nelson Fisola, yesterday at Afe Babalola Auditorium, UNILAG campus.
According to the statement made available to newsmen, “We say unequivocally to Hon. Minister of Education that Nigerian university students are completely disappointed and frustrated, by the prolonged strike and inability of the ministry of education to take our federal and state university education out of its current bereavement as evident in the curresnt crisis”.
The students also added, “After reading newspapers on how the ministry of education and leadership has managed the conflict of interest in the Nigerian universities, our sense of trust in the ministry has been consistently battered”.
The concerned students maintained that they will take risk to trust the leadership of the country and interest to provide a timely resolution to the conflict between ASUU and Federal government.
