Having passed the hurdle of the dreaded UTME exercise of the Joint admission and matriculation board(JAMB) and in expectant of the 2013/2014 JAMB UTME results, let’s now talk about the reason why over 1.7 Million candidates took the time to sit for the examination, and their chances of success.
VNTI DISCUSSES: ADMISSION!!!
The Federal Government on Saturday said of the 1,735,720 students that registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, only 520,000 will gain admission.
This is quite an increase of 20,000 admission slots from last years 500,000 and it was recorded as a result of the newly established institutions by the federal government, each having a quota of 500 admission slots.
It is also understood that the University of Lagos(UNILAG), has the highest admission ability of a Nigerian institution, with about 9,507 available admission slot, as revealed by the VNTI Guide to admission Here: http://ow.ly/2bsz7m.
However, over 130,000 first and second choice candidates would be battling out for these available slots at the University post-utme screening which is expected to follow soon, as well as other candidates who would vouch for the change of institution/course form.
Despite all these challenges, the federal government has maintained that over 500,000 persons would be successfully admitted this year, and as a result, it is left for this admission seekers to sought for available admission spots!!!!
Tomorrow, we continue with this and explain where the chances of admission for this candidates lie!!!
