UNILAG VC URGES NEWLY ADMITTED STUDENT TO SHUN ALL VICES!!!

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Rahamon Ade Bello, FAEng has urged the newly admitted students of the University to shun all vices or face dire consequences which includes expulsion from the University.

He gave the advice on today, December 17, 2012 during the Opening Ceremony of the 2012/2013 Orientation Programme for Year One and Direct Entry students.

The event which was held in the Main Auditorium, Akoka, was witnessed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research), Professor Babajide Alo, FAS ; Registrar, Oluwarotimi O.A. Shodimu, Esq ; Bursar, Mr Lateef Odekunle; Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Olukayode Amund; Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Mendie and Head of Modern EuropeanLanguages, Professor Timothy Azobele among others.

His words, “It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to this great institution, the University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride. I believe that most of you don’t understand why University of Lagos is referred to as the University of First Choice and the Nation Pride.

We received 83,817 applications from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board to study in UNILAG, the largest numbers to apply into any university in the country. You can now see that gaining admission into the University of Lagos is not easy.

“Now, you are part of the privileged few that have gained admission, therefore you have to work hard to protect this admission. You are just about to start a journey that will determine your future. This journey requires determination, diligent, focus and resilience. You must have goal to acquire academic excellence”

The 5-day Orientation Programme is an initiative of the Students Affairs Division, aimed at acclimatizing year one and direct entry students with various academic opportunities and challenges, social facet, rules and regulations of the University.
