BAYERO UNIVERSITY UPDATE: STUDENTS THREATEN TO BRING DOWN KANO OVER BURSARY

Students of the Bayero University students yesterday, protested in kano over the Non-payment of their three years bursary from the state government.

The students when making their claims, blocked some major streets in the metropolis as early as 9 am, in their demonstration while lifting cardboards and placards to show their displeasure over the unpaid bursary.

The students of the Bayero University Kano(BUK) involved in the act yesterday, threatened to scuttle the peace in Kano during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri if the Rabiu Kwankwaso-led government failed to give them what is theirs.

The state government in response to the students, dismissed their threat, saying that it had already voted about N40m to settle the unpaid bursary.

Representing the state government, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mallam Halilu Dantiye, Kwankwaso assured them that the 60th executive council meeting had last Wednesday approved the total sum of N39.8m for the payment of the scholarship allowances through the Ministry of Higher Education while appealing to the students to refrain from any act that could disrupt the peace in the state.
