Latest reports from the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has revealed that students of the University, numbering over 2000 has taken to the streets, protesting the alleged increment in their school fees.

According to the reports, many casualties were recorded as surrounding supermarkets and filling station were set on fire, while some banks were raided.

More common with protesters, the Benin-Abuja road was impassable as the protesting students barricaded the road, forcing all vehicular movement to divert through Iruekpen-Sabon-Gida-Ora-Afuze-Auchi road.

The students were protesting the hike in school fees from N26,000 to N76,000 for full-time students, and from N30,000 to N100,000 for part-time students.

We hope the Edo state government does something, to prevent the impending danger, and the fall of our academic standards.
