Its is so sad to note the increasing frequency of Suicide attempts in the Nigerian universities of Late.
Another suicide death has been reported in the National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN) as a student was found hanging on a mango tree in his own residence in Ipala Lagos, less than one week after a suicide death was announced last week at UNN.
The student by the Name Ayodeji Balogun, according to the reports by his friends injected himself with a poisonous substance, believed to be an insecticide, before he finally hung himself on a mango tree in front of His compound.
Like the previous suicide death before him, Ayodeji made open his plans on the popular social network, FACEBOOK, on monday, evening, before he was found dead on Tuesday.
Something truly need to be done, about the increasing frequency of Suicide attempts in our tertiary Institutions today.
FOUR SUICIDE DEATHS IN TWO MONTHS, IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES IS NOT A GOOD HISTORY TO CONTINUE BUILDING. Two suicide deaths have been recorded at the University of Nigeria(UNN), One at the Ebonyi state University(EBSU) and this now, at the National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN).
Everyone at this point are advised to watch their friend closely, especially their statements on and off social networks. Do not take anything for Granted.
May their souls rest in peace, Amen.
