The JAMB official cut-off decided on the 21st of May, in the presence of other academic boards and commissions such as the NUC, has been put to ridicle time after time.

This has left many Nigerians especially our Jambites and University students wondering, the extent of the authority of the Joint admission and Matriculation board JAMB in governing admission in the Country.

The Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA) has been the first among the federal Universities to publicly turn down the JAMB 2012/2013 official post-utme cut-off marks for Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. When they announced their post-utme registration last week.
In this registration FUTA made the following announcement;
All candidates who made the Federal University of Technology, Akure(FUTA) their first or/and second choice(s) and obtained a minimum score of 200 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in March, 2012 are invited for the Computer based screening exercise in the University from Wednesday, 6th June to Saturday, 9th June, 2012.

It should be remembered that, The JAMB 2012/2013 post-utme cut-off marks decided in abuja together with the National University Commission(NUC) on the 21st of May, states that;
All universities are to welcome students who scored 180 and above in the just concluded 2012 JAMB UTME, while All Polytechnics and colleges of Education are to welcome students who scored 160 and above for their 2012 post-utme registration

The University of Ibadan, has become the next university in this line of dangling authority, with no one willing to concede leadership. The university has publicly rejected the JAMB cut-off ahead of her 2012 post-utme registration when she announced that;
The 2012 UI post-utme is available to candidates who fall under the following categories:
1. Candidates who selected the University of Ibadan(UI) either as their first or second most preferred institution at the 2012 UTME Registration.
2. Candidates Who scored 200 marks and Above at the 2012 UTME.
3. Candidates who will complete sixteen years old by October 2012.
WARNING: Ensure that you have met the criteria above before paying at the bank for the 2012 UI post-utme registration.

This action once again leaves more serious questions about the educational sector in Nigeria, especially, that of The tertiary Institutions.

VNTI, having been following this trend from the onset, has been bothered by many disturbing questions.
• The Institution,
• JAMB or
• NUC.

Another question worthy of note is that, What is the effect of the MAY 21 AGGREMENT?

Why spend lots of the Country’s money organizing a meeting, when they authority is not on You?

Whatever the answers Maybe, We are yet to see. The MAY 21 AGGREMENT uptill now is not VALID.
