Catastrophe struck today as a certain driver caught with conveying passengers with increased fares zoomed into a crowd of students knocking down at least three students after being sanctioned by Union officials.
The presence of part-time students in the University of Benin during weekends has always posed great concerns to the leaders of the SUG. This is because commercial bus drivers always try to take advantage of this situation and escalate fares by usually one hundred (100%) percent or more.
This ugly incident was intercepted by officials of the Union who were not far away. The bus driver was taken to the June 12 Secretariat where he was appropriately dealt with while the injured students were immediately rushed to the University's health center.
